COLUMBUS, Ohio (Feb. 18) -- The 2010 version of the Mr. Aruba Charity Challenge rasied a record $4,440 for the JEGS Racing For Cancer Research foundation. Event organizers Mike DeChicco and Jane Graebner, aka Mr. and Mrs. Aruba, recently presented the check from their Jan. 30th event to JEGs vice president Jeg Coughlin Jr. To date, the Mr. Aruba Charity Challenge has contributed more than $14,000 to the JEGS Racing For Cancer Research foundation.

Advances in the world of medical science—and cancer research in particular—make the difference in earlier detection and treatment, as well as living well and living longer. Dr. Maura Gillison is a leading expert in the study of the human papilloma virus (HPV), she was the frst to identify HPV as the cause of developing certain head and neck cancers and now considers risk factors associated with these cancers. Dr. Gillison, the frst holder of the Jeg Coughlin Chair in Cancer Research, plans to develop a program focused on identifying links between infections and cancers.

The recently contested Mr. Aruba's Bench Nationals and Charity Challenge raised $4,000 for the JEGS Foundation's Racing For Cancer Research on a chilly day in late January. However, the weather did little to cool the generosity of the participants, who gave early and often at the event.

The annual event was once again organized and promoted by Mike DeChicco and Jane Graebner, aka Mr. and Mrs. Aruba.

Everyone’s family has been touched by cancer, including the Coughlins, and that’s what inspired them to create The JEGS Foundation Racing for Cancer Research. It is a nonprofit organization with 100% of donations going directly to cancer research. Recently The Foundation received two donations from The SuperChevyShow group and Survivor Racing (Corbinenterprises.org) pictured here.
